We are looking for a Laboratory Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely testing, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., MLSCN, ISO 15189), and managing laboratory staff and resources.

This role will combines technical expertise, quality assurance, and leadership, ensuring that all laboratory activities support the delivery of reliable diagnostic, research, or industrial results.

The Laboratory Manager develops and enforces Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), supervises staff performance, manages inventory and equipment maintenance, and liaises with clinicians, researchers, or external stakeholders to support efficient laboratory services.

Job description

We are looking for a Laboratory Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely testing, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., MLSCN, ISO 15189), and managing laboratory staff and resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise laboratory staff and assign duties to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) programs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (MLSCN, ISO 15189, NCDC, WHO, etc.).
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Manage laboratory budgets, supplies, and inventory.
  • Train and mentor laboratory personnel on best practices and safety procedures.
  • Oversee data management, test validation, and accurate reporting of results.
  • Coordinate with clinicians, researchers, or external partners to meet laboratory needs.
  • Enforce biosafety and biosecurity protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related field (Master’s/PhD preferred in some settings).
  • Current MLSCN license (for medical/diagnostic labs).
  • Minimum 5–8 years of laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical diagnostics, molecular techniques, or industrial/research lab operations.
  • Familiarity with ISO 15189 standards and other accreditation systems.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, resources, and staff effectively.
