Job description

The Medical Laboratory Technician supports laboratory operations by assisting in specimen collection, processing, routine testing, and maintaining laboratory equipment. The role requires adherence to professional standards, safety guidelines, and quality procedures under the supervision of a licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist, in line with MLSCN regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the collection, labeling, and processing of patient specimens.
• Perform routine laboratory tests under supervision.
• Prepare reagents, media, and laboratory consumables.
• Operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment.
• Clean and sterilize laboratory instruments and work areas.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
• Record test data accurately and maintain laboratory documentation.
• Support inventory management and stock control.
• Comply with biosafety, infection prevention, and waste disposal guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
• MLSCN Technician license or proof of registration (mandatory).
• Minimum 0–2 years relevant experience (entry-level candidates may be considered).
• Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and procedures.
• Willingness to work shifts when required.
